There is no honest flat answer — cost depends on the size and pitch of the roof, the shingle system you choose, and what we find once the old roof comes off. What we can tell you is that we inspect first, put the scope in writing, and the number you sign is the number you pay unless you approve a change. If hail or wind caused the damage, much of the cost may fall to your insurer rather than to you.

Most Texas homeowners policies cover sudden storm damage including hail and wind, subject to your deductible and your policy's specific terms — and many Texas policies carry a separate, higher wind and hail deductible. Coverage is between you and your carrier; we are not the ones who decide it. Our role is to inspect the roof, photograph what we find, and give you clear written documentation of the damage so you have something concrete to submit.

Hail damage is often invisible from the ground. Look for granules collecting in your gutters and at downdrain outlets, dark bruised spots on shingles, dented gutters, soft spots underfoot, and damaged vents or flashing. A roof can look perfectly fine from the driveway and still have lost the granule layer that protects the asphalt underneath, which is why we get on the roof and photograph it directly.

Most residential roof replacements are a one to two day job once materials are on site. The bigger variable is scheduling — after a widespread hail event across Central or West Texas, every contractor in the region gets busy at once and the queue lengthens. Calling early after a storm gets you seen sooner.

It comes down to how widespread the damage is and how old the roof is. A handful of wind-lifted shingles or a failed flashing detail is a repair. Hail bruising spread across several slopes usually is not, because the granule loss is everywhere even where it has not started leaking yet. We will inspect and tell you which one you are actually looking at — including when the answer is that you do not need us yet.

Roughly 60% of our work involves homeowners who choose to file a claim. We provide a professional inspection, document the storm-related conditions we observe, and supply you with clear information and photographs you can use when working with your carrier. We do not file the claim for you or negotiate with your adjuster on your behalf.

Verify liability insurance, ask exactly what the workmanship warranty covers and for how long, and get the full scope in writing before you sign. Be cautious with anyone who knocks on your door after a storm demanding a signature on the spot, or who offers to cover your deductible — that practice is illegal in Texas.
